La Gazzetta dello Sport: Milan reject move for Sampdoria’s Gianluigi Buffon
By Football Italias staffIt was a difficult day for Milan, but a good one for Gianlui Buffon.
The Rossoneri are set to reject a £2.3 million bid from Sampdori for the Italy international.
The Serie A side have made it clear they want to keep Buffon, but his agent has said they would accept a €1.5m (£1.15m) transfer fee for the 28-year-old.
Milan have been looking for a striker in the January transfer window, with Lazio’s Matteo Darmian the top name among those linked to a move.
But with their squad stretched, it is not a given they will get a deal done.
The club are yet to formally confirm Buffon’s departure.
It was also confirmed that Milan will not be allowed to sign another goalkeeper in the window.
According to Sky Sport Italia, a deal with Roma for Andrea Barzagli will be announced on Tuesday.
That leaves Buffon in limbo, with Milan looking for another striker and keeper.
It is not yet clear how the transfer window will impact the Italian side, who are already without injured midfielder Marco Borriello.
